E211 – Lid lengthening procedure
OHIP Surgical Assists Code — OCULAR SURGICAL PROCEDURES · Schedule of Benefits
Lid lengthening procedure. This procedure is eligible for surgical assistant and anaesthesia services as indicated by the 'Asst' and 'Anae' columns on page . General rules from the General Preamble regarding procedures, surgical assistants (-), and anaesthesiologists (-) would apply.
When to Use
- Use E211 for surgical lengthening of the eyelid, such as in cases of cicatricial lagophthalmos or severe retraction.
- Use E211 when a scleral graft is required by adding E953 to the claim for the additional work performed.
Common Pitfalls
- Do not bill E211 on the same day as E140 or E141, as these are restricted combinations.
- Failure to verify if the procedure is performed in a hospital setting when attempting to claim special visit premiums like C998C or C999C.
Billing Tips
- Always ensure the surgical assistant and anaesthesiologist premiums (E400B/C, E401B/C) are linked to the case commencement time, not the procedure completion time.
- If performing a scleral graft, ensure E953 is included on the same claim to receive the additional payment associated with the graft component.
