E525 – Localization for breast surgery

An add-on code claimed in addition to the primary excision procedure when it is performed after localization with a mammographic wire or radioactive seeds. It is payable with R107 (tumour or tissue for diagnostic biopsy and/or treatment), R111 (partial mastectomy or wedge resection for treatment of breast disease), or R102, R158 or R159 (Level 1, 2 or 3 oncoplastic breast conserving lumpectomy or partial mastectomy for malignancy).
