E541 – Tissue expander - additional expander

Percutaneous inflation of each additional tissue expander (to a maximum of 3). This procedure is an add-on to `Z137` for the inflation of the first tissue expander.
When to Use
- Use E541 when you are inflating a second or third tissue expander during the same session as the primary inflation billed under Z137.
- Apply this code when managing multiple expanders in different anatomical sites or distinct surgical fields during a single patient encounter.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing E541 without an accompanying Z137 will result in an automatic rejection as it is strictly an add-on procedure.
- Exceeding the maximum of three units of E541 per patient encounter will trigger a rejection, as the Schedule of Benefits limits the total count to three additional expanders.

- Ensure the total number of units for E541 reflects the specific number of additional expanders inflated beyond the first one covered by Z137.
