This is an add-on fee payable in addition to S273 (Marsupialization and/or decompression of cyst(s) or abscess(es)) when more than three cysts or abscesses are treated.
When to Use
- Use E715 as an add-on to S273 when performing marsupialization or decompression on four or more distinct cysts or abscesses in a single operative session.
- Apply this code when the clinical documentation explicitly confirms the treatment of at least four separate lesions, as S273 only covers the base procedure for the initial set.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing E715 without an accompanying S273 claim will result in an automatic rejection, as it is strictly an add-on code.
- Claiming E715 for the treatment of only three lesions is a common audit trigger; the threshold for this code is strictly 'more than three'.
