Closed reduction, fracture/dislocation (Halo or caliper traction) is a non-surgical procedure to realign a fractured or dislocated segment of the spine. This service includes the application of stabilizing devices such as Halo or caliper traction. This is a surgical service eligible for surgeon, assistant, and anaesthetist fees. The acute spinal cord injury premium (E383) may be claimed in addition when applicable.

When to Use

  • Use F201 for the non-surgical, closed reduction of a spinal fracture or dislocation that requires the application of halo or caliper traction.
  • Use F201 when performing the stabilization procedure in an acute setting, ensuring the documentation reflects the specific traction device applied.
