G032Anti-DNA

OHIP Diagnostic & Therapeutic Procedures Code — DIAGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC PROCEDURES · Schedule of Benefits

A laboratory medicine test to measure anti-DNA antibodies, typically used in the investigation of autoimmune disorders like systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

When to Use

  • Use G032 when investigating systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in patients presenting with clinical markers such as malar rash, photosensitivity, or unexplained serositis.
  • Use G032 to monitor disease activity or treatment response in patients with a confirmed diagnosis of SLE where anti-dsDNA titers correlate with clinical flares.

Common Pitfalls

  • Avoid billing G032 as a routine screening test for non-specific arthralgia without clinical suspicion of systemic autoimmune disease, as this is a common reason for audit recovery.
  • Do not bill G032 in conjunction with G031 (ANA) if the laboratory protocol automatically reflex-tests the anti-DNA based on a positive ANA result, as this may be flagged as duplicate billing.

Billing Tips

  • Ensure the clinical indication for the test is clearly linked to the patient's diagnosis code on the requisition to support medical necessity during post-payment review.
