This service represents the technical component of Cortical Evoked Audiometry. It is subject to the general payment rules for technical components as outlined in the Schedule. Technical Component Requirements: - The physician must have the necessary training and experience to render the service. - The physician must maintain documentation describing the quality assurance process. - The physician is responsible for the complete quality assurance process for all elements of the technical component. See G141 for the professional component. Note: For cortical evoked audiometry, multiple frequency, as required by WSIB, refer to Appendix F of the Schedule.
When to Use
- Use G143 to bill for the technical component when you are the physician responsible for the equipment, data acquisition, and quality assurance of the cortical evoked audiometry test.
- Use this code in conjunction with G141 when you perform both the technical setup and the professional interpretation of the test results.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing G143 without maintaining a formal, written quality assurance protocol for the equipment and testing process, which is a mandatory audit requirement.
- Failing to apply the 86.10% payment reduction when the service is performed within a hospital setting, as per the technical component payment adjustment rules.

The physician submitting a claim for the technical component is responsible for the complete quality assurance process for all elements of the technical component of the service, including data acquisition, reporting, and record keeping.
The physician must be able to demonstrate upon request by the MOH that they have the necessary training and experience to personally render the technical component of the service and that they maintain documentation that describes the process by which the physician monitors quality assurance in accordance with professional standards.
For cortical evoked audiometry, multiple frequency, as required by WSIB - see Appendix F.
