G207 – Bronchial provocative testing

Bronchial provocative testing - per session, to a maximum of 6 per year.
When to Use
- Use G207 when performing methacholine or histamine challenge testing to confirm a diagnosis of asthma in patients with suggestive symptoms but normal baseline spirometry.
- Select G207 for serial bronchial provocation sessions required to monitor airway hyper-responsiveness in patients undergoing specific immunotherapy or pharmacological trials.
Common Pitfalls
- Do not bill G207 in conjunction with G208 on the same day, as G208 is intended for the interpretation of the test results rather than the procedure itself.
- Avoid billing G207 for routine spirometry or basic pulmonary function testing, which are covered under separate diagnostic codes.
- Exceeding the annual limit of 6 sessions per patient will result in automatic rejection by the Ministry of Health.
Billing Tips
- Ensure the clinical indication for the provocation is clearly linked to the diagnostic challenge to justify the procedure fee over standard pulmonary function assessments.
