An exchange transfusion is a procedure where a patient's blood is removed and replaced with donated blood or plasma, typically to remove toxins or abnormal blood components. This service is listed as a major invasive procedure and is therefore eligible for after-hours procedure premiums (E409, E410).
Note: An assistant at an exchange transfusion may be payable as per the rules outlined in the General Preamble ().
