G314
G314 – Tilt table testing of vasomotor syncope
OHIP Diagnostic & Therapeutic Procedures Code — DIAGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC PROCEDURES · Schedule of Benefits
Tilt table testing of vasomotor syncope. The service includes arterial cannulation, provocative and blocking drugs, and requires that the physician must be continually present.
When to Use
- Use G314 when performing a formal tilt table test to investigate unexplained syncope, specifically when arterial cannulation and pharmacological provocation are required.
- Select G314 instead of a standard G010 or G011 office assessment when the primary purpose of the visit is the diagnostic procedure itself rather than an evaluation of the patient's history.
Common Pitfalls
- Do not attempt to bill after-hours premiums like E409 or E410 with G314, as the Schedule of Benefits explicitly excludes this code from major invasive procedure premium eligibility.
- Avoid billing G314 in conjunction with a consultation or assessment code on the same day unless you can demonstrate that the assessment was for a separate, unrelated clinical issue.
- Failure to document the continuous presence of the physician throughout the procedure is a common audit trigger, as this is a mandatory requirement for the fee.
Billing Tips
- Ensure that the use of provocative and blocking drugs is clearly noted in the procedure report, as these are considered bundled into the G314 fee and cannot be billed separately.
