G330
G330 – Acute peritoneal dialysis
OHIP Diagnostic & Therapeutic Procedures Code — DIAGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC PROCEDURES · Schedule of Benefits
Acute peritoneal dialysis for a period lasting up to 48 hours. This service includes the insertion of a temporary stylette cannula.
When to Use
- Use G330 for the initial insertion of a temporary stylette cannula and the initiation of acute peritoneal dialysis within the first 48-hour window.
- Use G330 when managing a patient requiring urgent dialysis initiation where the procedure is performed as a non-elective, acute intervention.
Common Pitfalls
- Claiming G330 for repeat or ongoing dialysis sessions beyond the initial 48-hour period, which must be billed under G331.
- Failing to apply the correct after-hours premium (E409-E413) when the procedure is performed outside standard hours, as G330 is a qualifying procedure for these premiums.
- Billing G330 in addition to other procedural codes that may be considered inclusive of the cannula insertion, leading to potential audit flags for unbundling.
Billing Tips
- Ensure the claim clearly reflects the initial nature of the service to avoid rejection against the G331 limit, as G330 is strictly for the first 48 hours of care.
