L175
L175 – L175
OHIP Dermatology Code · Schedule of Benefits
When to Use
- Use L175 for the excision of a single benign lesion, such as a skin tag or small seborrheic keratosis, when no complex reconstruction is required.
- Select L175 when performing a simple shave or scissor excision of a superficial lesion that does not necessitate the depth or complexity associated with Z001 or Z002.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing L175 in conjunction with a minor assessment code like A007 is often rejected unless the assessment is for a separate, unrelated clinical issue.
- Submitting L175 for multiple lesions on the same day will trigger a reduction or rejection; use the appropriate multiple procedure rules or consider if a different procedural code is more accurate for the total volume.
Billing Tips
- If the lesion requires a full-thickness excision with closure, bill the appropriate Z-code instead of L175 to reflect the higher complexity of the procedure.
