L244
L244 – L244
OHIP Dermatology Code · Schedule of Benefits
When to Use
- Use L244 for the removal of a single benign skin lesion, such as a skin tag or small seborrheic keratosis, via curettage or simple excision.
- Select L244 when the procedure is performed as a standalone service rather than as part of a comprehensive assessment or minor surgery tray.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing L244 in addition to a minor surgery code like Z311 or Z312 for the same lesion is considered double-billing and will be rejected.
- Submitting L244 for the removal of multiple lesions on the same day often leads to payment for only the first lesion, as subsequent removals are not billable under this specific code.
Billing Tips
- If performing multiple removals of the same type, ensure you are not attempting to stack L244; consider if a different procedural code or a tray fee is more appropriate for the total clinical work performed.
