L301
L301 – L301
OHIP Dermatology Code · Schedule of Benefits
When to Use
- Use L301 for the excision of a single benign lesion, such as a skin tag, fibroma, or small cyst, where the procedure involves simple excision.
- Select L301 when the lesion is removed via simple excision rather than the destructive techniques covered under G313 or G314.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing L301 in conjunction with a minor assessment code (A007) on the same day is often rejected unless the assessment is for an unrelated condition.
- Avoid billing L301 for multiple lesions in the same anatomical area; use the appropriate multiple excision codes if the total size or count exceeds the single lesion definition.
Billing Tips
- Ensure the pathology report or clinical notes clearly justify the excision if audited, as L301 is frequently flagged for review when billed at high volumes.
