L330
L330 – L330
OHIP Dermatology Code · Schedule of Benefits
When to Use
- Use L330 for the collection of a venous blood specimen when the physician or staff performs the venipuncture specifically for laboratory testing.
- Apply this code when a patient presents with a requisition from another specialist or facility and you are acting solely as the collection site.
Common Pitfalls
- Do not bill L330 in addition to an office visit code (A007, A001) as the venipuncture is considered bundled into the assessment fee.
- Billing L330 for capillary sticks (finger pricks) is incorrect; this code is strictly for venous blood collection.
- Avoid billing L330 when the blood work is performed as part of a procedure where the specimen collection is incidental to the primary service.
Billing Tips
- Ensure the laboratory requisition is clearly documented in the chart to support the claim in the event of a post-payment audit.
- If you are performing multiple laboratory services, L330 is a standalone fee and cannot be claimed multiple times for the same patient encounter.
