L560 – L560
OHIP Dermatology Code · Schedule of Benefits
When to Use
- Use L560 for the laboratory requisition and processing of a standard Pap smear (cervical cytology) when performed in a primary care setting.
- Use this code when submitting a cervical screening specimen to the Ontario Public Health Laboratory or a designated regional laboratory.
Common Pitfalls
- Do not bill L560 in conjunction with a physical examination fee (e.g., K030) if the laboratory work is considered bundled into the comprehensive visit fee.
- Avoid billing L560 as a standalone service if the patient is already being seen for a minor assessment (A007) or intermediate assessment (A001) where the specimen collection is incidental to the visit.
Billing Tips
- Ensure the laboratory requisition form is fully completed with the patient's health card number to avoid automated rejections for missing demographic data.
