L711
L711 – L711
OHIP Dermatology Code · Schedule of Benefits
When to Use
- Use L711 for the simple excision of a single skin lesion, such as a skin tag or small benign growth, that does not require complex closure or layered suturing.
- Select L711 when performing a minor surgical procedure that is less extensive than the requirements for Z001 or Z002, which involve more complex excision or repair.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing L711 in addition to a minor assessment code (A007) for the same lesion is a common cause of rejection, as the assessment is considered included in the procedure fee.
- Attempting to bill L711 for multiple lesions on the same day without using the appropriate multiple procedure rules (50% for the second procedure) will trigger an automatic adjustment or audit flag.
Billing Tips
- Ensure the clinical note clearly describes the size and location of the lesion to justify the use of L711 over a simple office visit code.
