L731 – L731
OHIP Dermatology Code · Schedule of Benefits
When to Use
- Use L731 when performing an excision of a benign lesion, such as a skin tag or small fibroma, where the lesion is removed by simple excision rather than destruction.
- Select L731 for the removal of a single benign lesion when the procedure does not meet the complexity criteria for a minor surgical procedure under G372 or G373.
Common Pitfalls
- Do not bill L731 in conjunction with G372 or G373 for the same lesion, as this constitutes unbundling and will trigger a rejection.
- Avoid billing L731 if the procedure involves destruction (e.g., cryotherapy or cautery), as these are covered under different fee schedule codes like Z324.
Billing Tips
- Ensure the clinical note clearly describes the excision technique, as L731 is specifically for excision and not for simple biopsy or superficial destruction.
