Segmental resection is the surgical removal of a specific segment of a lung lobe, which includes the segmental bronchus and artery that supply it.
Payment for a second assistant requires authorization by a medical consultant and submission of a letter from the surgeon outlining the reason the second assistant was required.
If the operation is cancelled after surgery has commenced but prior to completion, the service is eligible for payment under independent consideration using code R990.
