This service involves the surgical creation of an ileostomy with the removal of the entire colon (total colectomy) and the rectum (abdomino-perineal resection). The service is eligible for assistant and anaesthesiologist fees, which are calculated using a time-based unit system. The procedure can be performed laparoscopically or with laparoscopic assistance, which is payable as an add-on (E793). It may also be performed with a continent ileostomy (E738). As a surgical procedure, it includes all common elements of insured services as described in the General Preamble (, ).
