This procedure is for the Insertion of antabuse into abdominal wall.

Use S320 when performing the surgical implantation of disulfiram (Antabuse) pellets into the subcutaneous tissue of the abdominal wall for the treatment of alcohol use disorder.
This code is specifically for the surgical procedure; do not use it for general counseling or management of substance use disorders, which should be billed using standard assessment codes.

Do not attempt to bill S320 in conjunction with general office visit codes (e.g., A007) on the same day, as the procedure fee is intended to cover the clinical encounter associated with the insertion.
Ensure the procedure is not confused with simple injections; S320 is a surgical insertion procedure and requires appropriate operative documentation of the incision and closure.

If the procedure is performed on an urgent or non-elective basis outside of standard office hours, verify eligibility for E409 or E410 premiums to increase the base fee of $58.15.
Always maintain a detailed operative note in the patient chart specifying the location of the insertion and the number of pellets implanted to support the surgical claim.
