S600 – Reduction of torsion of testis or appendix testis and orchidopexy

This surgical procedure involves the emergency detorsion (untwisting) of a torsed testis or appendix testis to restore blood flow. Following the reduction of the torsion, an orchidopexy is performed, which involves surgically securing the affected testicle (and often the contralateral one as a preventative measure) to the scrotal wall. The fee for this service is comprehensive and covers the procedure for one or both sides if required during the same operation.
If claiming the Trauma Premium (E420), the medical record must list the Injury Severity Score (ISS).
