S722
S722 – Post hysterectomy vault prolapse - repair by vaginal approach
OHIP Urology Code — FEMALE GENITAL SURGICAL PROCEDURES · Schedule of Benefits
Post hysterectomy vault prolapse - repair by vaginal approach, may include enterocoele and/or anterior and posterior repair.
When to Use
- Use S722 for the definitive surgical correction of post-hysterectomy vaginal vault prolapse via the vaginal route.
- Use this code when the procedure includes concurrent repair of an enterocoele, anterior colporrhaphy, or posterior colporrhaphy, as these are considered inclusive components of the vault repair.
Common Pitfalls
- Do not bill S722 in addition to S812 (anterior/posterior colporrhaphy) for the same patient on the same day, as the vault repair code is considered all-inclusive.
- Avoid billing S722 if the prolapse repair is performed via an abdominal or laparoscopic approach, as this code is strictly restricted to the vaginal approach.
Billing Tips
- Ensure the operative report explicitly describes the vault prolapse and the vaginal approach to justify the use of S722 over other pelvic floor repair codes.
- If a concurrent non-inclusive procedure is performed, ensure it is distinct from the vault repair and documented separately to avoid potential rejection for unbundling.
