- Apply T530 when acting as the most responsible physician coordinating hyperacute stroke interventions, such as thrombolysis or mechanical thrombectomy assessment, in an emergency department setting.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing T530 in conjunction with a standard A007 or A001 assessment code for the same patient encounter will result in a rejection for duplicate service.
- Failure to document the specific start and end times of the acute stroke management period can lead to claim reversal during a post-payment audit.
