When to Use

- Apply this code when performing a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation in an emergency department or urgent care setting that does not meet the criteria for a full K013 consultation.
- Select T602 when providing a focused psychiatric assessment for a patient already under your care who develops a new, acute behavioral or mental health complication.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing T602 in conjunction with a general A007 or A001 assessment on the same day will trigger a rejection for duplicate service.
- Using T602 for routine follow-up visits is an audit risk; use K013 or standard office visit codes for ongoing psychiatric management.
- Failing to document the specific 'crisis' nature of the encounter often leads to recovery during Ministry audits.
