When to Use
- Use T619 for the professional fee associated with the interpretation and reporting of a diagnostic ultrasound examination when the equipment is owned by the facility or a third party.
- Apply this code when billing for the technical component of an ultrasound service where you are providing the interpretation but not supplying the diagnostic equipment.
Common Pitfalls
- Do not bill T619 in conjunction with global ultrasound codes that already include the professional component, as this will result in a duplicate payment rejection.
- Avoid billing T619 if you own the ultrasound machine, as you should instead be billing the global fee or the appropriate technical and professional split codes.
