T902
T902 – T902
OHIP Other Code · Schedule of Benefits
When to Use
- Use T902 for the initial assessment of a patient presenting with a minor laceration requiring simple closure, such as a single layer suture or adhesive strips.
- Apply this code when the clinical encounter is limited to the procedural assessment and minor repair, distinct from a comprehensive office visit (A007) or minor assessment (A001).
Common Pitfalls
- Billing T902 in conjunction with an office visit code (A007) for the same encounter will result in a rejection for duplicate service or unbundling.
- Using T902 for complex lacerations requiring layered closure or extensive debridement, which should instead be billed under the appropriate minor surgery fee codes (e.g., S051 or S052).
Billing Tips
- Ensure the procedural note clearly describes the length and depth of the laceration to justify the use of T902 over a standard assessment code.
