According to the Schedule, a subsequent visit is any routine assessment following the patient's admission (:). This service is intended for ongoing care and is one of up to three subsequent visits payable per patient per month (see also W153 for the first two visits). This service is not applicable for acute intercurrent illnesses (use W121) or for emergencies requiring a special visit (use 'A' prefix codes with premiums).

- Use W158 for the third routine monthly follow-up visit for an endocrine condition in a long-term care facility after W153 has been billed for the first two visits.
