It is listed with a reduced fee compared to the initial procedure and is eligible for payment with various add-on procedures if performed concurrently.
When to Use
- Use Z607 for a follow-up cystoscopy performed within 30 days of an initial diagnostic cystoscopy (Z606) to monitor healing or evaluate a specific finding.
- Use Z607 when a secondary procedure, such as the removal of a ureteric catheter (E790) or a bladder biopsy (E824), is required within the 30-day window following the primary diagnostic exam.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing Z607 instead of Z606 when the procedure occurs more than 30 days after the initial cystoscopy, which will result in a rejection for incorrect code selection.
- Attempting to bill E773 and E818 concurrently for the same ureteric obstruction, as only one of these codes is eligible for payment per obstruction.
- Billing Z607 alongside excision of tumour codes (Z632, Z633, Z634), which renders the base cystoscopy code ineligible for payment.
