- Use A348 when a Radiation Oncologist sees a patient in an out-patient department (OPD) for a focused review of a new or ongoing issue, distinct from a full consultation (A345) or repeat consultation (A346).
- A348 is appropriate for a Radiation Oncologist documenting a brief history, examination, and advice for a patient experiencing a side effect from radiation treatment, where a more extensive assessment is not required.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing A348 on the same day as another assessment or consultation (e.g., A345, A745, A343) by the same Radiation Oncologist for the same patient will lead to rejection, as per the same-day restrictions.
