- Use D010 for acute elbow dislocations where associated soft tissue entrapment or interposition prevents successful closed reduction.

- Do not bill D010 in conjunction with R400 (closed reduction) on the same day unless the closed reduction was a distinct, failed attempt that required a separate procedure note.
