E084Saturday, Sunday or Holiday subsequent visit by the MRP

OHIP Surgical Assists Code — GENERAL PREAMBLE · Schedule of Benefits

A premium that adds 45% to the fee of an eligible subsequent visit or palliative care visit when provided by the Most Responsible Physician (MRP) on a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday. This premium is applicable to specific subsequent visit codes including C121, C122, C123, C124, C126, C142, C143, C882 or C982. See applicableToCodes for a full list of eligible services.

When to Use

  • Use E084 when you are the MRP performing a routine subsequent hospital visit (e.g., C002) on a Saturday, Sunday, or statutory holiday.
  • Apply this premium to palliative care subsequent visits (e.g., C882 or C982) when rendered on a weekend or holiday, provided the patient is not in a designated palliative care bed in a Long-Term Care facility.

Common Pitfalls

  • Do not bill E084 with C121 when the C121 is claimed for an 'additional visit for intercurrent illness', as this is explicitly excluded in the General Preamble.
  • Avoid billing E084 if you have already claimed E083 for the same patient on the same day, as only one of these premiums is payable per patient per day.
  • Ensure you are the MRP; this premium is not payable for consultative or non-MRP subsequent visits.

Billing Tips

  • Always link E084 directly to the eligible subsequent visit code in your billing software to ensure the 45% calculation is applied correctly to the base fee.
