Minimally invasive glaucoma surgery or minimally invasive bleb surgery, ab interno or ab externo (e.g. Hydrus stent, iStent, Trabectome, Kahook dual blade, canaloplasty, XEN Gel Stent, PreserFlo MicroShunt)
When to Use
- Use E115 as the primary procedure code when performing standalone MIGS procedures such as iStent or Hydrus implantation for open-angle glaucoma.
- Use E115 when performing ab interno canaloplasty or goniotomy using devices like the Kahook Dual Blade or Trabectome as a primary intervention.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing E115 in conjunction with a standard cataract extraction without appending the E110 add-on code, which results in an underpayment of the combined procedure.
- Attempting to bill E115 alongside other glaucoma filtering procedures without confirming if the specific device or technique is considered inclusive or mutually exclusive under the Schedule of Benefits.

- Always append E110 when E115 is performed during the same operative session as cataract surgery to capture the additional $271.50 fee.
