This is an add-on code to N562 (Intradural neurolysis of unusual lesions). It is payable for each additional level decompressed, including unilateral or bilateral disc excision. According to the note on page , N562 is not eligible for payment when rendered with any other decompressive codes except for this add-on for additional levels.
When to Use
- Use E361 as an add-on code specifically when performing disc excision at additional spinal levels during the same operative session as the primary procedure N562.
- Apply this code for each additional level beyond the primary level where decompression and disc excision are performed in conjunction with the intradural neurolysis described in N562.
Common Pitfalls
- Attempting to bill E361 with any decompression code other than N562 will result in an automatic rejection, as N562 is restricted from being billed with other decompressive codes.
