E576
E576 – Finger dislocation - each additional
OHIP Surgical Assists Code — MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM SURGICAL PROCEDURES · Schedule of Benefits
This fee is an add-on payable for each additional finger dislocation that undergoes closed reduction, subsequent to the primary finger dislocation reduction which is billed under D001. This code must be billed in conjunction with the primary procedure code for the first dislocation.
When to Use
- Use E576 for each additional finger dislocation reduced after the primary reduction is billed under D001 during the same encounter.
- Apply this code when a patient presents with multiple digit dislocations that require separate closed reduction maneuvers.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing E576 as a standalone service without an accompanying D001 will result in an automatic rejection.
- Attempting to use E576 for multiple reductions on the same finger is incorrect; it is intended for additional distinct fingers, not multiple attempts on one digit.
Billing Tips
- Ensure the primary procedure D001 is submitted on the same claim as E576 to satisfy the mandatory linkage requirement.
- If performing the procedure in an office setting, remember that E576 is eligible for the E584 plaster cast add-on if a cast is applied.
