This premium is payable as an add-on to `Z327` (flexible or rigid bronchoscopy, with or without bronchial biopsy, suction or injection of contrast material) for any bronchoscopic procedure performed on a patient under 3 years of age.
When to Use
- Use E622 as an add-on premium when performing a flexible or rigid bronchoscopy (Z327) on any patient who has not yet reached their third birthday.
- Apply this code specifically when the clinical complexity of the airway in a pediatric patient under 3 necessitates the use of Z327.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing E622 without the mandatory parent code Z327 will result in an automatic rejection.
- Attempting to claim E622 alongside Z360 is prohibited, as these codes are mutually exclusive in the Schedule of Benefits.
- Submitting E622 for a patient who has already turned 3 years old will trigger a claim rejection based on the age-specific eligibility criteria.
