E762Reconstruction or repair of renal artery

OHIP Surgical Assists Code — UROGENITAL AND URINARY SURGICAL PROCEDURES · Schedule of Benefits

Payable for the reconstruction or repair of a renal artery when performed in conjunction with renal transplantation procedures. This service is an add-on to the main transplantation surgery. As per the note on page , claims for this service should be submitted on the recipient's claim, and the fee does not include immunosuppressive therapy, which is billed separately on a fee-for-service basis.

When to Use

  • Use E762 when a renal artery reconstruction or repair is required specifically during the course of a renal transplantation procedure.
  • Apply this code as an add-on service when the vascular anatomy of the donor kidney necessitates surgical intervention to ensure successful anastomosis.

Common Pitfalls

  • Submitting E762 on the donor's claim instead of the recipient's claim will result in an automatic rejection.
  • Attempting to bill immunosuppressive therapy under this code will lead to audit scrutiny; these must be claimed as separate fee-for-service items.
  • Billing E762 as a standalone procedure without an associated renal transplantation code will trigger a rejection for lack of a primary surgical service.

Billing Tips

  • Ensure E762 is linked to the primary transplantation procedure code on the same claim to establish the necessary surgical context.
  • If the procedure occurs during after-hours periods, apply E409 or E410 to the base fee of E762, provided the criteria for non-elective status are met.
