This service is for magnetic resonance spectroscopy performed in addition to a repeat multislice sequence MRI of the head (`X425).
When to Use
- Use E876 when performing magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) as an add-on procedure during a standard head MRI (X425).
- Use E876 when performing fiber tracking (tractography) as a specialized sequence in addition to a standard head MRI (X425).
Common Pitfalls
- Billing E876 without an associated X425 claim on the same day will result in a rejection, as it is strictly an add-on code.
- Attempting to bill E876 more than once per patient per day is prohibited; it is limited to a maximum of one claim per day.
