When to Use
- Use E902 as an add-on when the excised meningioma or pituitary tumour measured during the procedure exceeds 2 cm in its greatest diameter in conjunction with N102.
- Apply E902 when performing a resection of an infratentorial or basal tumour via N153 where the lesion size necessitates the additional complexity of a >2 cm diameter excision.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing E902 without an accompanying N102 or N153 claim will result in an automatic rejection as it is a dependent add-on code.
- Failure to explicitly document the lesion size in the operative report is a primary audit risk, as the >2 cm threshold must be clinically substantiated.
