Investigations including skin prick test(s), intracutaneous test(s) and any other procedures necessary to establish the role of venom allergy in contributing to a patient's illness(es). This service is limited to a maximum of 2 per patient per physician per 12 month period.
When to Use
- Use G199 when performing comprehensive venom-specific skin prick or intracutaneous testing to confirm hypersensitivity to Hymenoptera stings.
- Select G199 instead of G195 or G196 when the clinical focus is specifically on venom allergy rather than general inhalant or food allergen investigations.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing G199 more than twice in a 12-month period will result in automatic rejection by the Ministry.
- Attempting to bill G199 in conjunction with other allergy testing codes on the same day for the same patient often triggers a claim review for duplicate services.
