This procedure is a percutaneous nerve block of the maxillary or mandibular division of the trigeminal nerve, as listed in the 'Nerve Blocks - Peripheral/Other Injections' section of the Schedule of Benefits. See page .
When to Use
- Use G250 for a therapeutic or diagnostic percutaneous nerve block specifically targeting the maxillary (V2) or mandibular (V3) division of the trigeminal nerve.
- Choose G250 when performing a peripheral nerve block that is distinct from the more proximal G219 (Trigeminal nerve block, Gasserian ganglion) which involves the main trunk or ganglion.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing G250 in conjunction with a local anesthetic injection performed by the same physician for the procedure itself is prohibited under GP100 rules.
- Attempting to claim After Hours Procedure Premiums (E409 or E410) will result in automatic rejection as G250 is not classified as a Major Invasive Procedure.
- Confusing G250 with G225 (Peripheral nerve block, major) or G227 (Peripheral nerve block, minor) which are intended for different anatomical targets.
