When to Use
- Use G299 when performing oximetry studies via cardiac catheterization to assess oxygen saturation levels in specific heart chambers or great vessels.
- Select this code when the study is performed as a standalone diagnostic procedure rather than as an integral component of a surgical intervention.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing G299 in conjunction with anesthesia services for a surgical procedure will trigger an automatic rejection per the Schedule of Benefits.
- Submitting G299 alongside G296 or G289 for the same patient on the same day is prohibited and will result in a claim denial.
