G336 – Subclavian or jugular catheter for haemodialysis - revision
OHIP Diagnostic & Therapeutic Procedures Code — DIAGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC PROCEDURES · Schedule of Benefits
Revision of a subclavian or external jugular catheter for haemodialysis. This service is classified as a major invasive procedure and is eligible for after-hours procedure premiums when rendered on a non-elective basis or when an elective procedure is delayed by an emergency.
When to Use
- Use G336 when performing a revision of an existing subclavian or external jugular haemodialysis catheter, such as repositioning or exchanging over a guidewire.
- Select G336 specifically for revisions; do not use it for initial insertion, which should be billed under the appropriate insertion code like G324.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing G336 in conjunction with an initial insertion code for the same site is a common audit trigger for unbundling.
- Attempting to claim G336 as an Emergency Department Physician will result in the automatic rejection of after-hours premiums E409 and E410.
Billing Tips
- Ensure you append the appropriate after-hours procedure premium (E409 or E410) when the revision is performed non-electively outside of standard business hours to maximize the procedural fee.
