G372 is for a single intramuscular, subcutaneous, or intradermal injection. It is claimed in two scenarios: 1. When an injection is administered in conjunction with another assessment or visit ('with visit'). 2. As an 'additional injection' when multiple injections are given and injections are the sole reason for the visit (in this case, the first injection is claimed as G373 and subsequent injections are claimed as G372). The fee includes interpretation of the injection. This service is not insured for vitamin injections when rendered for the purpose of facilitating weight loss.
When to Use
- Use G372 as an add-on code when administering a second or subsequent injection during a single encounter where the primary injection is billed as G373.
- Use G372 when performing an injection during a standard office visit (e.g., A007) where the injection is incidental to the assessment.
Common Pitfalls
- Claiming G372 as the primary injection code instead of G373 when the visit is solely for the purpose of receiving an injection.
- Billing G372 for patients in a long-term care facility where the monthly management fee W010 has already been claimed by any physician for that month.
- Submitting G372 for vitamin injections specifically indicated for weight loss, which are explicitly excluded from OHIP coverage.
Billing Tips
- Ensure that if multiple injections are administered, the first is coded as G373 and all subsequent injections are coded as G372 to avoid rejection.
- When delegating the injection to nursing staff, ensure the medical record explicitly identifies the staff member and confirms the procedure was performed to satisfy audit requirements.
