G529 – Impedance audiometry - professional component
OHIP Diagnostic & Therapeutic Procedures Code — DIAGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC PROCEDURES · Schedule of Benefits
This fee code represents the professional component for impedance audiometry performed by manual or automated methods. It includes the physician's interpretation of the test results. As noted on page , this service may also include stapedial reflex and/or compliance testing. The corresponding technical component is billed under G442.
When to Use
- Use G529 when interpreting tympanometry results to assess middle ear function, such as identifying eustachian tube dysfunction or middle ear effusion.
- Use this code when performing stapedial reflex testing to differentiate between conductive and sensorineural hearing loss.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing G529 on the same day as G525, G441, or G526 will result in a zero-dollar payment for the entire claim due to strict same-day restrictions.
- Failing to bill the technical component G442 alongside G529 results in an incomplete claim, as G529 only covers the professional interpretation component.
Billing Tips
- Ensure the clinical record clearly documents the interpretation of the impedance audiometry, as this is the specific service being billed under the professional component.
