When to Use
- Use J204 as an add-on service when performing transcutaneous tissue oxygen tension measurements specifically to augment the diagnostic data obtained during a primary Doppler study.
- Apply this code when the clinical assessment of vascular insufficiency requires objective tissue oxygenation data that cannot be captured by Doppler studies alone.
Common Pitfalls
- Billing J204 as a standalone procedure will result in automatic rejection, as it is strictly defined as an add-on to Doppler studies.
