J203 represents transcutaneous tissue oxygen tension measurements, a diagnostic service with two billable components:
• Technical Component (H): Billed as J203B
• Professional Component (P): Billed as J203C
The technical component is not payable if rendered to a hospital in-patient or an out-patient who is admitted within 24 hours for the same condition (see ). The physician claiming the technical component must have the necessary training and maintain quality assurance documentation. For services delegated to a physician's employee, specific conditions must be met as per .
