J307 is a pulmonary function test to determine functional residual capacity using a body plethysmograph. This service is comprised of two distinct components that are claimed separately: a technical component (H Fee) and a professional component (P Fee).
• Technical Component (H Fee): Covers the use of equipment, supplies, and personnel to perform the test. Per , the H fee is only payable when the service is rendered in a hospital setting and is subject to specific payment rules for hospital in-patients and out-patients who are subsequently admitted.
• Professional Component (P Fee): Covers the physician's professional work, including the interpretation of the results and the generation of a report.
