OHIP Consultation & Visit Premium Codes Code — CONSULTATIONS AND VISITS · Schedule of Benefits

A multidisciplinary cancer conference (MCC) is a service conducted for the purpose of discussing and directing the management of one or more cancer patients where the physician is in attendance either in person, by telephone or videoconference as a participant or chairperson in accordance with the defined roles and minimum standards established by Ontario Health.

When to Use

  • Use K710 when you are the designated radiologist participant providing expert imaging interpretation during a formal multidisciplinary cancer conference.
  • Use this code when the conference meets the Ontario Health minimum standards for patient discussion time, even if you are participating remotely via videoconference.

Common Pitfalls

  • Billing K710 on the same day as K708, K709, or K711 will result in an automatic rejection as these codes are mutually exclusive.
  • Attempting to bill an additional consultation or office visit code for the same patient on the same day as the MCC will trigger a claim rejection for duplicate service.

Billing Tips

  • Ensure your documentation explicitly links the total conference time to the number of patients discussed, as OHIP will prorate your payment if the time-to-patient ratio does not meet the mandated threshold.
