This procedure involves the surgical ligation of the external carotid artery on one side, typically performed to manage severe posterior epistaxis that has not responded to other treatments. The benefit for this procedure includes pre-operative care for 1-2 days prior to surgery and post-operative care for up to two weeks, with the exception of the first two post-operative visits and the day of discharge visit which may be claimed separately. The '#' prefix indicates that for services performed in a hospital, the premises, equipment, supplies, and personnel are funded by the hospital global budget. For services in an ICHSC, these costs are covered by the centre's funding.
